"After the Show, its the.....

afterparty and"....well not really for me. I'm back home....and I have to tell yall...I had a DAYUM GOOD TIME!!!! You wanna talk about an all out party...I almost lost myself....forgetting that I wasn't at home, but at a public event! I paid $75 to attend this show and not only did I make sure to get my money's worth, it was worth every penny and then some!!!!

Dee and I sat third row center on the south-side of the round, seats 13 and 14!!!! It don't get no better than that. I will say as a side note, had we been in row 2, seats 13 and 14, one or both of us would have made it on that stage with him!!!! Security picked the woman in front of us...you know what they say...always a bridesmaid, never the damn bride!!!

But anyways...this man is beyond genius. He's a living legend, who parties and perfoms with a level of style, class and sophistication that these young cats can only dream about. His stage presence is unrivaled!!!!!

The show opened with him appearing miraculously out of smoke (ok, they really just raise him up from beneath the stage) but what a grand entrance it was!!! This brotha was decked out in a white and red pin-stripe suit, with a white and red silk polka-dot shirt and white boots with silver glitter heels!!!! Now yall know a lesser brotha would have opted not to fuck with such an outfit, but not Mr. Prince Rogers Nelson baby! Can yall say FLYY!!!!

He starts off with the signature song of the tour, Musicology, which is even more soulful and splendid live than you can ever imagine. With Musicology as the jump off, he performed two additional songs from that album, Call My Name (my jam) and I can't remember the name of the other song at the moment....but he immediately transitioned into the classics that have truly defined his career for more than two decades.

I so wanted to keep a list of the songs he performed in the order he performed them, however...it just wasn't possible! I wilded out so much that not only can I not remember the order of the songs, but as I sit and type this my fingers, my throat, my eyes, my back, my legs, my neck and my feet are sore and aching from the joy of my fabulous evening with "The Great One." I don't have a clue how I'll function at work tomorrow or later today, I should say, but anyways....here's the list:

-Musicology
-Call My Name
-1999
-Let's Go Crazy
-You've Got The Look
-Cream
-Adore
-Pop Life
-Controversy
-Love Bizarre
-Seven
-Little Red Corvette
-Sweet Thang (Chaka Kahn)
-Purple Rain

I know there are a few more and I will add them as soon as I remember!
So, the NPG band is straight FIRE!!!! You have the legendary Maceo Parker, Najee & Candy Dulfer....on Sax, John Blackmon (R.I.P. to his baby girl, such an unfortunate tragedy) on the drums, Rhonda Smith...on Bass & Renato Neta on Keys!

Up until now, I had convinced myself that I missed "The Revolution"...but "The Great One" knows what he's doing. He doesn't just say out with the old band and in with just any ole new crowd...he definitely put together a master class band with a master class sound! That also got me to thinking how I would love to see him perform with a powerhouse megaband, hand-picked...Jay Z ala 4th Annual BET Awards style.

Picture this...Prince...backed by 4 drummers...John Blackmon + Sheila E, ?uestlove & Cindy Blackman; 4 guitarists....Rhonda Smith + Lenny Kravitz, Dave Navarro & Santana; 3 on keys...Renato Neta + Ellis Marsalis & Alicia Keyes; 5 on Sax...Candy Dulfur, Maceo Parker, Najee + Dave Koz & Kenny G?!?!? A sistah can dream can't she!!!!

I had the best time ever!!! This concert was even better than his last one I attended in 2002!!!! I even managed to capture a small glimmer of him with my camera that I've been keeping in my purse at all times (ala Josina style) in the pic above....enjoy!!

In other related news:

ATTENTION CONCERT PROMOTERS, ARTISTS, FANS and other invested and/or interested parties:white folks, beer (or any alcoholic beverages for that matter) and concerts don't mix!!!!!!

NUFF SAID!
