Call for Submission

Nappy New Year 2006

Are you a happily natural woman of African descent? If you have natural (unstraightened by chemicals or heat) hair, you are invited to submit a black and white photograph of yourself for Nappy New Year 2006, a 12-month wall calendar. The calendar will feature at least 12 women who are happily nappy. We are seeking artistic black and white photos for inclusion. If your photo is selected you will receive a percentage of the net proceeds from sales of the calendar. The calendar will be available for purchase online beginning on October 30, 2005. The deadline for submissions is September 30, 2005.

Guidelines:
• Submit only photos for which you hold the rights. That excludes photos taken at a portrait studio or by a professional photographer, unless you have purchased the rights in advance.
• Images should be 300 dpi.
• Photos must be black and white or color images converted to grayscale.
• Photos must be sumitted online via email.
• If there are multiple people in the photo, each will have to sign a photo release form to be included. The percentage of the net proceeds will be paid per photo, rather than per subject.

We are looking for:

• Afros big and small, twists, cornrows, locks, fades and more;
• Women with natural hair in a variety of settings such as at the beach, playing a sport, dancing, singing, having their hair groomed, grooming their own hair, teaching, at wedding or formal event, gardening, with children and partners, at a religious service, etc.
• Photos of natural sisters together are welcome as well. Surprise us!

The calendar will be printed via print-on-demand technology and will be available for purchase online.
